We have reached Q2 of the 2nd year, that is 15% of my allowed time gone!
So where have I been for the last year?
Well… A lot has changed.
For starters, I’m now based in Cambodia earning a living as a teacher. This will have a significant effect on my ability to attend chess tournaments, as travel to Europe is currently very expensive. Therefore I have no plans to attend an OTB tournament any time soon.
So what have I achieved?
Honestly, not a lot. Chess has been on the back burner for the past year and I have found myself mainly distracted by my other hobbies. Among other things I like to play shogi, learn languages, practise coding and in general pick up anything that grabs my interest.
One achievement that I did manage was regarding my health. I weight 127kg on arrival to Cambodia and I’m now at 97kg. So 30kg lost. The primary motivation was the relentless heat, just walking to the end of the road would leave me bathed in sweat. I still have some more weight to lose and that brings me on the my goals for the next quarter.
My goals for Year 2 Q3:
Get into better physical shape:
I’m currently at 97kg and still a bit chubby. I will start a water fast… for as long as I can endure! I hope to lose about 10kg and reach my target weight of around 87kg.
Solve some tactics everyday:
This is primarily to build the habit of doing chess everyday, rather than whenever I feel like it.
I’ll also try to blog more and record some Youtube videos!
